Last Known Address is the result of over 9,000 hours of research into the history surrounding the Julian Cemetery. Published in 2008, Last Known Address was chosen as a finalist for the Fifteenth Annual San Diego Book Awards.
Last Known Address goes beyond dates and places, or as one review commented:
“…it is also a humble and charming ethnography of the early American frontier. David Lewis’s work is important, timely, and best of all, true to his deep Julian roots.”
The book contains many stories of the pioneers who are buried in the cemetery. The author also relates what it was like growing up while part of a family whose history in Julian dates back to 1887.
For those who wish to research and preserve a historic cemetery, there is a short “how to” section to get them started.
In short, there is something for everyone to enjoy within the pages of Last Known Address.
